Tim Strazzere is blogging about his succesful attempt to get root on the Archos A5. Currently this root access does not survive the next reboot phase. It seems to be a matter of time till a generic hack to gain root is available. The opening of the USB access to support the Debug bridge (see our review update) might help too.

Tim is also working on his own AppStore app for the device – any AppStore seems to be better than the one provided by Archos. Tim has analyzed the Market data in the past so visit his site frequently… :-)
